This is a short guide with my top three recommendations of best things to do in Bocas Del Toro. I really enjoyed my time in Bocas Del Toro and I know that you will too!
1. Take a boat trip out to the different islands- I highly recommend doing this as you will get to see many of the different islands in Bocas Del Toro. The tours will cost you anywhere between $25-$35USD depending on the type of tour that you choose to do. The tours can be found on the island of Isla de Colon with several companies offering tour packages. Some of my highlights were the National Park which actually has it’s own beautiful white sand beach. The boat trip there was actually a bit bumpy but it was worth going there, as the weather was sunny compared to rainy in the island of Isla Colon.
2. Check out the Bocas Del Toro Nightllife- the party on the island doesn’t just stop during the day. There are several great bars and clubs to keep you out until the crack of dawn. I would suggest starting the night out at Selena Hostel and enjoying their good music and view of the ocean. After, I would make a stop over at Bookstore bar and enjoy the DJ spinning reggaeton as well as cheap beers. Afterwards, make a stop over at Iguana or Summer depending on the night these are two of the top clubs on the island and you will be sure to have a good evening out. During my trip I visited these two clubs and had a blast each night. Just because it isn’t full around 11:30PM doesn’t mean it won’t fill up later. It was raining while I went and got full by 12:30AM.
3. Check out some of the good restaurants and craft beer in Isla de Colon- There was a really good food truck near Selena which served creole style grilled chicken and vegetables. I highly recommend visiting this food truck as you will get to taste some of the best grilled chicken in Bocas along with a tasty homemade sauce.
I would also like to recommend Posada for some good bakery foods for breakfast.
The Italian owner has been baking from scratch there for over 17 years. I’ve heard his hotel Posada Los Delfines has some of the best pizza in Bocas but while I was there I didn’t get a chance to try it so let me know!
For craft beer, I recommend checking out the Bocas Brewery for some really good craft beer. I got a chance to visit their brewery and their head brewer Chris is an awesome guy. Make sure to try the tropical ale and tell me what you think! Another restaurant I visited was called El Ultimo Refugio which is run by American owner Katherine. They also have Bocas Brewery beers on tap. While I was there, I tried the tuna tar tar which used ginger as well as beet juice as seasoning. The tuna was freshly caught that day.
