Did you know that Penang has a thriving street art scene? I had heard from other travelers that Penang was at the epicenter of art culture in Southeast Asia. For some reason, I always thought that art was a part of Penang culture until I met my Airbnb host Sek who was able to give me more insight. He is a local from Penang and spent time living in Kuala Lumpur and the US.

When you speak to any Malaysian person and ask them “Where is the best food in Malaysia?” they will tell you Penang. “Why is the Penang food so good?” I wondered. I watched the Anthony Bourdain episode on Penang and had more of a broad understanding of it and the Chinese influence on the cuisine there.
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about being able to visit the orangutans in Borneo since it was the fruiting season and it would be more difficult to be able to see one. Orangutans don’t need to go to the feeding stations in the wildlife center during this time because the forest is full of fruits for them to eat. I decided to visit the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Kuching, Borneo; despite the odds of not seeing one. This is one of the few places in the world where you can see these magnificent apes in the wild. If you are looking for best things to do in Borneo, Malaysia then this is one of your top choices!
